Over Exfoliation Nation

We all love the feeling our skin has after a good scrub…

But are we over exfoliating? How often should you be exfoliating? Why do you need to exfoliate?

Signs that you over exfoliating:

  • Irritation

  • Burning

  • Redness/Inflammation

  • Breakouts

  • Increased Sensitivity

So, how often should you be exfoliating?

Generally we recommend that you exfoliate once a week. Some people that are more on the oily side can get away with exfoliating twice a week.

Ways to heal skin after over exfoliating.

First…step away from the scrubs.

Next, simplify your routine. We recommend sticking to the basics. Use only a cleanser, a toner, and a really good moisturizer.

Your skin needs love…

After you come back from over exfoliating try using a non-foaming cleanser. Foaming cleansers have surfectants which can dry out your skin. We recommend using our Calm Cleanser till help during this time. It will calm down the skin and help with healing in the process.

When can I start exfoliating again?

Once your skin has calmed down. If you no longer are breaking out or have any irritation is when to pick the exfoliator back up, but be weary. We recommend using a more gentle exfoliator once a week to see how your skin reacts.

Summary:

Don’t over do it….

But if you do now you know that you can come back from it.

Be kind to your skin.
